'Thank you for the added assistance' PUNB welcomes an increase in funding to RM500mil in the 2027 Budget

KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) welcomes the 2027 Budget, presented on Friday in the Dewan Rakyat by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dattuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Reaching for the Sky, Rooted in the Earth.”

Under the Budget, PUNB’s financing fund has been increased to RM500 million from RM350 million. The increase reflects the Government’s confidence in PUNB’s role in empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

PUNB Chief Executive Officer Izwan Zainuddin expressed his appreciation to the Government, particularly the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance, for its continued trust.

“We will honour this trust with integrity and sound, transparent governance, ensuring that every ringgit reaches entrepreneurs who need and deserve support,” he said.

“Bumiputera entrepreneurs are ready to take the next step—not only as suppliers, but as industry leaders driving innovation and automation on a global scale. PUNB’s responsibility is to provide support that matches their ambitions.”

In line with the Prime Minister’s remarks at SParK 2026, PUNB will strengthen collaboration with other government agencies to ensure its support delivers tangible benefits for entrepreneurs.

The funding increase builds on the commitment made at the SParK 2026 launch ceremony, where the Prime Minister recognised the effectiveness of PUNB’s financing programmes and indicated that the Government would consider additional funding based on the performance and effectiveness of PUNB’s mandate.

The 2027 Budget’s focus on empowering the Bumiputera economy through the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA 35), alongside national priorities in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, new energy and other high-value industries, aligns closely with PUNB’s work.

PUNB supports Bumiputera entrepreneurs in accessing high-value markets while building resilient businesses through sustainable financing and ongoing capacity development.

Throughout 2026, PUNB realigned its business financing schemes: PROSPER GROW, PROSPER GREAT and PROSPER IMPACT/NOVA. It also introduced three products under PROSPER GROW—PROSPER GROW BIZ EXPRESS, PROSPER GROW FUEL UP and PROSPER GROW AUTO BIZ—to broaden financing access for entrepreneurs at different stages of business growth.

PUNB remains committed to supporting the aspirations of the MADANI Economy and the 13th Malaysia Plan. Further initiatives aligned with the 2027 Budget will be announced in due course.

About PUNB: Established on 17 July 1991 under the Companies Act 1965, PUNB is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bumiputra Investment Foundation (YPB). Its mandate is to increase Bumiputera participation in entrepreneurship and foster a dynamic, resilient and progressive Bumiputera trade and industry community.
