KUALA LUMPUR: With Chinese New Year around the corner, the festive atmosphere seems to be livening up all over the country, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president shared that in Yong Peng, Johor, it is no different as the festive lights installed at Jalan Meng Seng Square, have created a vibrant and lively atmosphere, making it impossible not to feel the excitement of Chinese New Year.

"Happy to see the square decorated in pink, colorful lights and plum blossoms.

"My heartfelt appreciation goes to the Yong Peng Village Development and Security Committee and the residents of Yong Peng, who dedicated 12 days to complete this remarkable work.

"My gratitude to them for inviting me, along with the Johor state executive committee members and Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon, to officiate the opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year light decorations," he said in a post on his Facebook page on Monday (Jan 20).

The Ayer Hitam MP said he and the people of Yong Peng were thoroughly entertained by the colorful light displays, cultural performances including the singing and dancing, as well as the delicious food and drinks sold during the event.

"May this new year mark a wonderful beginning that brings happiness and health to all Malaysians," he said.
