Three held over fatal shooting in Skudai

JOHOR BARU: Police have detained three suspects over a fatal shooting of a man in Taman Industri Jaya, Skudai.

Johor acting police chief Deputy Comm Hoo Chuan Huat said the suspects, aged from 26 to 29, comprise two local men and a woman. No weapons were found during the arrests.

"Only one of the male suspects has a criminal record," he said during a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here on Monday (May 11).

Hoo said police are still determining the motive for the murder of the 27-year-old victim, who worked at a warehouse in Singapore. Investigators are also looking into possible links to underworld activities or organised crime.

He said another 27-year-old man shot during the incident was a friend of the victim.

On Sunday (May 10), Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said they received a report about the shooting at 11pm.

He confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds, while another was injured in the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama
