GWM Malaysia, having sold nearly 5,900 units in 2025, will be coming to the Penang Autoshow 2026 in its full “all powertrain, all scenario” line-up, geared for modern city living.
Designed for every user and for every journey, GWM will showcase its range at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) from May 1-3, featuring models that fit real local needs.
From internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid electric (HEV) to plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, GWM positions itself as a complete mobility solutions provider.
Leading the line-up is the GWM HAVAL H6 HEV.
Visitors will get to see the brand’s best-selling model up close – a hybrid built for everyday family life, offering a smooth and quiet drive in the city while helping drivers save on fuel without sacrificing performance.
Inside, the five-seater feels modern and spacious. It also comes with advanced driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and automated parking, offering extra support for daily commutes and school runs as well as longer journeys.

This is followed by the larger luxury GWM WEY G9 plug-in hybrid MPV, which was introduced to Malaysians in January 2026. According to new car registration data from the Road Transport Department and the Malaysian Automotive Association, the GWM WEY G9 was recorded as the leading Chinese luxury MPV in the country for two consecutive months.
The MPV is powered by GWM’s all-new Hi4 intelligent hybrid system and offers a combined driving range of up to 1,000km. Inside, the seven-seater comes with premium touches such as Nappa leather seats with a massage and ventilation function, a double opening fridge from 0-50 degree Celcius and a panoramic glass roof, making it well-suited for long-distance family travel.
On the fully electric front, the GWM ORA Good Cat range brings city-friendly mobility into the spotlight. It is designed for urban use with a compact size ideal for Penang’s narrow heritage streets and stop-start traffic. The line-up includes the ORA Good Cat GT, positioned as the sportier, high-performance variant of the standard Ultra model, offering increased power, aggressive styling, additional interior features, with around 171PS and 250Nm of torque, and up to 460km of driving range.

Making its first local debut is GWM’s TANK 300 HEV, a rugged yet smart off-road SUV, which is an expansion to the brand’s hybrid SUV line-up. Visitors to the autoshow will get an early preview ahead of its official launch expected around mid-year.
Power comes from a 2.0L turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering about 346PS and 648Nm of torque. With four-wheel drive and seven modes, the hybrid SUV is built for all, whether it is a weekend drive up to Teluk Bahang or a laid-back family picnic by the beach.
GWM is also offering test drives for visitors to experience the line-up first-hand for selected models including the ORA Good Cat GT, HAVAL H6, TANK 300, TANK 500 and WEY G9.
The Penang Autoshow 2026 marks GWM’s continuous efforts of growing its presence in the northern region, as well as its support towards efforts by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) to broaden automotive engagement nationwide.
Beyond the showcase, GWM is investing in the region, with four showrooms to date. To ensure a seamless ownership experience, GWM also operates three service centres, providing easy access to aftersales support, highlighting its long-term commitment to customers in northern Peninsular Malaysia.
GWM Malaysia chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah said the autoshow reflects the evolution of Malaysia’s automotive landscape and highlights its role as a more inclusive national platform.
"The northern region continues to emerge as a key growth market; we are seeing rising demand for versatile mobility solutions that cater to different driving needs and lifestyles.
"As MARii brings this flagship autoshow to the north for the first time, it marks an important step in strengthening industry engagement with communities that are increasingly central to the country’s mobility future.
"Through this platform, we aim to demonstrate how our all-powertrain, all-scenario line-up integrates into real local lifestyles, while allowing audiences to experience our vehicles beyond traditional showrooms and brochures," he said.
Beyond its exciting line-up of vehicles, GWM’s booth at A04 will feature interactive activities such as walkthroughs, games and family-friendly spaces.
The autoshow is open from 10am to 10pm.
