JOHOR BARU: Johor has recorded a 7.3% drop in cumulative dengue cases with 2,132 cases in the epidemiological week 18/2026, compared with 2,299 cases in 18/2025.
State health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon, in a statement, said of the 2,132 cases, 710 (33.3%) were epidemic locality cases, while 1,422 were non-locality cases.
He said Johor Baru district recorded the highest number of cases with 151 (78.6%), Kulai in second spot with 12 cases (6.3%), and Batu Pahat being the third highest at 10 cases (5.2%).
He said Kluang has seven cases (3.6%), Pontian with four (2.1%), Kota Tinggi and Muar, each with three cases (1.6%), Tangkak and Mersing with one case (0/5%) respectively.
“There were no cases recorded in Segamat,” said Ling, adding that there were no deaths for epi week 18/2026.
He said there were two cumulative deaths in epi week 18/2026, against four cumulative deaths recorded for epi week 18/2025.
Ling said the seven dengue hotspots in Johor Baru were Bandar, Jelutong, Plentong, Pulai, Sungai Tiram, Tebrau and Tanjung Kupang in Gelang Patah.
“The hotspots in Kulai are Bukit Batu, Kulai, Sedenak and Senai,’’ he said.
Ling said the 14 hot spots in Batu Pahat were Bagan, Chaah Baru, Kampung Bahru, Linau, Lubok, Minyak Beku, Peserai, Simpang Kanan, Simpang Kiri, Sri Gading, Sri Medan, Sungai Kluang, Sungai Punggor and Tanjung Semberong.
