600kg of beef, 400 chickens sold within an hour at Terengganu's Madani fair

KUALA BERANG: A total of 600kg of beef and 400 fresh chickens were sold within an hour during the Madani Rahmah Sale Programme (PJRM) at the Kuala Berang central market earlier today.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) state director, Saharuddin Mohd Kia, said a subsidy of RM50,000 was allocated for the PJRM@Pasar pilot programme in Terengganu.

He explained that it featured the sale of local beef, fresh chicken, fish, and vegetables, at prices 30 to 40 percent lower than market rates.

"Fourteen vendors in Kuala Berang are participating in PJRM@Pasar. Today, beef is priced at RM21 per kg, compared to the market price of RM36, while fresh chicken is RM7.50 per kg, instead of the usual RM10.

"The beef and chicken sold out within an hour as customers quickly flocked to buy them due to the significantly cheaper prices," he said at the Kuala Berang market.

Saharuddin highlighted that, as of Jan 15, KPDN Terengganu had organised 25 sessions of PJRM@Pasar across eight parliamentary constituencies in the state.

This included eight sales held at premises and 17 mobile sessions, benefiting 10,084 visitors with total sales of RM474,594.01.

"Although KPDN has introduced new approaches such as PJRM@Pasar and PJRM@Kampus, the mobile, open, and in-premises programmes will continue to be held," he said.

He added that the ministry is evaluating a list of public markets for participation in the PJRM@Pasar programme. - Bernama
