Man gets electric shock during attempted theft at TNB substation


SUNGAI PETANI: A man in his 30s has been seriously injured after he received an electric shock during an attempted theft at a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) substation in Taman Ria Jaya near here.

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Hanyan Ramlan said police received a call from a TNB technician at 2.08pm on April 27 over the incident.

He said police arrived at the scene and found the suspect collapsed inside the substation with severe burns to his arm.

"He was detained and is receiving treatment," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 30), adding there were no surveillance cameras or witnesses.

Initial checks showed the unemployed suspect has a record of two crimes under Sections 379 and 324 of the Penal Code.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code and he has been remanded for three days. – Bernama
