PETALING JAYA: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has dismissed claims that he holds total sway over Perikatan Nasional, insisting he has never unilaterally dictated or intervened in decisions made by the opposition coalition.
Speaking at a press conference during the 72nd PAS annual muktamar in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, Abdul Hadi emphasised that all Perikatan policy matters are finalised through formal consultations and democratic consensus.

"We make decisions through consultation and meetings. We practise democracy," Abdul Hadi said, as reported by Sinar Harian on Friday (Sept 4).
He added that internal debate is deeply rooted in PAS's political culture, refuting perceptions that the party blindly follows the mandate of a single leader without room for dissenting views.

"Every leader is given the space to express their views openly before any final decision is reached," he said.
Abdul Hadi’s remarks follow recent comments by Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who asserted that major coalition decisions must be determined strictly through the Perikatan supreme council rather than through the direct involvement of the PAS president.
