GISB probe: 34 to be rearrested under Sosma once remand order expires, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 34 people detained in connection with the ongoing investigation into Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), wil be rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Sosma 2012 once their remand order expires, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said the 34 would be rearrested under Sosma based on the statements gathered so far.

"127 others have been released on police bail upon the expiry of their remand.

"Today, 24 GISB members including its top management had their remand extended until Sunday (Sept 29).

"It is in connection with the investigation under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Sept 25).

The IGP said investigations showed that the GISB practised the Aurad Muhammadiah teachings and with its members obsessed with worshiping its leaders until twisting real Islamic teachings.

"This process is similar to an indoctrination process, where their ways are followed and believed by its followers wholeheartedly.

"Such a doctrine is so dangerous towards the nation's security, especially towards Islamic teachings in the country.

"The future of its followers and members are also in jeopardy as they relied solely on their leaders," he said.

The IGP urged those with information to contact the police to assist with the investigations.

"We also advise those who have been released on bail to come forward if they need assistance in terms of welfare.

"We are committed to bringing those who break the law to justice based on existing laws to ensure the safety and security of the people," he said.
