GISB-linked businesses changing logo to avoid probe, says Negri MB

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan enforcement agencies have been told to closely monitor the activities of businesses allegedly linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) as some are believed to have started making changes to their logo to avoid being probed, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said state authorities had obtained leads that some of these businesses have made minor changes to their logos to show that they were not linked to GISB.

"The enforcement agencies, including the state Islamic affairs department, are gathering evidence on this, and we will act once police conclude their probe," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (Sept 25).

"We do not wish to hamper police investigations. The state agencies, including the local councils, have been told to continue to monitor the situation on the ground," he said.

He said the state authorities knew the location of GISB-linked businesses throughout the state.

He also reminded the state Islamic agencies to religiously monitor all tahfiz and madrasah to ensure they did not violate any provision in the state Islamic laws.

"We should not only be probing whenever an issue arises.

"The monitoring of these institutions, especially those not in the mainstream, should be done regularly," he said.

Aminuddin said it was also important to monitor such religious schools even if their registration applications had not been approved.

He said his administration was also looking at only allowing licensed religious schools to operate.

"Some have been operating without a licence as they could not fulfil all conditions imposed by the state Islamic authorities.

"In the future, we may only allow those who have met all the conditions and have a licence to operate so that they adhere to all requirements (by the state Islamic authorities)," he said.

On another matter, Aminuddin expressed hope that Muslims in the state would not be influenced by deviant Islamic teachings such as Aurad Muhammadiyah.

"Do not be influenced by teachings banned by the state Islamic authorities.

"There seem to be organised efforts to manipulate Muslims and I hope they will not influence us," he said.

On Sunday (Sept 22), it was reported that a chairman and the principal of a school in Kuala Pilah linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd were arrested on suspicion of reviving deviant Islamic teachings.

The two, aged 58 and 51, were arrested for allegedly trying to revive the teachings of Aurad Muhammadiyah, which was declared illegal in Negri Sembilan in 2016.
