Teen who impersonated doctor failed to continue psychiatric treatment, say cops

SEPANG: The 14-year-old girl who was recently detained for impersonating a doctor has a history of psychiatric treatment and failed to continue her treatment, says Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He said that the teenager did not continue her treatment in March and also dropped out of school, adding that this information was verified by the girl's family.

"We have referred her to the Social Welfare Department for counselling before the investigation file is submitted to the deputy public prosecutor," he said at a press conference on Monday (Aug 12).

Hussein Omar added that the teenager had gained access to the hospital for a week before she was detained by police on Aug 8.

Asked how the girl managed to enter the hospital, Hussein said that she used her mother's MyKad and claimed that she had lost her access card.

Hussein also said that he was not a medical expert and could not confirm what condition she was suffering from.

He added that police are also working with the hospital to tighten security.

On Aug 8, Sepang police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof confirmed that the teenager was detained by the police in the lobby of Hospital Sultan Idris Shah, Serdang.

Hospital scrubs and a lanyard belonging to the facility were also seized.

The teenager was remanded for two days under Sections 448 and 170 of the Penal Code for trespassing and impersonating a public servant. – Bernama
