PUTRAJAYA: A politician who is also a former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and a former Treasury secretary-general at the Finance Ministry have arrived at the Putrajaya Court Complex for remand proceedings on Thursday (Aug 27).
The two men, both in their 60s and holding the titles Datuk Seri and Tan Sri, respectively, arrived at about 9.30am on Thursday wearing orange lock-up attire and handcuffs as they were escorted by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers.
Also seen at the court complex was a former TH chief executive officer, who had earlier been remanded to assist in the same investigation.
It was reported on Wednesday (Aug 26) that the politician, who is also a former TH chairman, was detained by the MACC to assist investigations following disclosures and findings in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report concerning the pilgrimage fund.
A former Treasury secretary-general at the Finance Ministry was also detained in connection with the same case.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests when contacted, saying the two prominent individuals were being investigated by the commission.
