PETALING JAYA: A General Operations Force (GOF) member, two locals and six foreigners were detained for the alleged possession of a banned substance, believed to be ketum.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects were detained at the GOF Central Brigade's quarters at about 10pm on Monday (Aug 5).

"They have been remanded to assist with the investigation," he told a press conference after attending the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters' evidence-disposal event at Ara Damansara police station on Wednesday (Aug 7).

Comm Hussein said the police are investigating whether the policeman used his living quarters to process or distribute the banned substance.
