Focus on Nenggiri first, Mahkota yet to be discussed at top leadership level, says Mat Sabu

PETALING JAYA: Amanah members are advised not to discuss any claims on the Mahkota state seat in the media as it has yet to be addressed by the highest leadership of the unity government, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The Amanah president acknowledged that the party grassroots wanted Amanah to contest the Mahkota seat, which was declared vacant following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, on Friday (Aug 2).

"The issue of the Mahkota seat should not be discussed through the media, as it has yet to be addressed at the highest leadership level of the unity government," he said in a statement Tuesday (Aug 6).

Mohamad also urged all parties in the unity government to focus fully on the Nenggiri by-election, which is currently being contested.

"Amanah remains committed to strengthening unity among the component parties of the unity government" he said.
