Melaka to host first race in Asean dragon boat circuit in 2024

MELAKA: The historic city here will play host to the first-ever Asean Dragon Boat Tournament next year.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the tournament will see 1,000 participants from 15 countries converge at Kota Laksamana jetty from Oct 21 to 27, 2024.

"The race will start here before continuing in Cambodia, Japan and ending in China," he said on Monday (Dec 18).

Ab Rauf said the tournament will be organised by the Victoria Sailing Institute of Hong Kong and be an attraction for Visit Melaka Year 2024.

He added that the state government would prepare the infrastructure to host the inaugural event and to lure international dragon boat enthusiasts.
