Threats directed at me came from some European MPs, says Anwar

CYBERJAYA: The threats spoken about on Tuesday (Oct 24) night came from some European MPs, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This comes after Anwar said at the Himpunan Malaysia Bersama Palestine gathering that he had received threats for criticising the Israeli government's actions in Gaza.

He added that a media statement on the matter will be issued in due course.

“Let’s not worry about that matter. We have work to do, and we will continue,” he told reporters after launching the Karnival Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan and Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan at the Multimedia University on Wednesday (Oct 25).

Anwar was asked to elaborate on the revelation he made in his speech at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, in which he had said that Malaysia had received criticism from pro-Israel countries, particularly the United States, for its support for Gaza and the Palestinians.

On this, he said that Malaysia would not retract its stand.
