75-year-old motorcyclist dies after colliding with lorry near Simpang Renggam


SIMPANG RENGGAM: A 75-year-old male motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a lorry at Jalan Batu 47, Jalan Simpang Renggam, near here.

Renggam Fire station chief Mohd Nizar Ma’mun said the station received an emergency call on the incident at 2.57pm Wednesday (Oct 4).

"The incident was between a lorry transporting fertiliser and a motorcycle ridden by the victim," he said in a statement.

Mohd Nizar said the lorry was travelling from Simpang Renggam towards Ayer Hitam while the motorcycle was coming from Ayer Hitam to Simpang Renggam.

Mohd Nizar said the victim, identified as Musa Awang, was pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Health Ministry who arrived at the scene.

He added the 32-year-old lorry driver Muhammad Nor Saffeex Zakaria escaped unhurt.

"The victim’s body has been handed over to the Health Ministry for further action," said Mohd Nizar.

The operation led by senior officer II Norhisam Ihwan and seven firemen from Renggam Fire station ended at 3.37pm.
