Kid Laroi performs in Sepang hotel following nixed music festival

PETALING JAYA: Australian rapper Kid Laroi, who was unable to perform here after the Good Vibes Festival was cancelled, gave an impromptu performance at a hotel bar in Sepang for a lucky fans on Saturday (July 22).

Kid Laroi, who was slated to be one of the main performers at the festival, belted out several of his popular songs.

A crowd of fans cheered and gathered around the singer as he sang at the Sama Sama Hotel, where he was putting up.

It is learnt that the artiste only found out of the cancellation of the festival upon arrival in Malaysia.

In a social media post, Laroi wrote "Touched down and found out the festival is cancelled. I love you Malaysia. I'm sorry."

Kid Laroi thanked the hotel for allowing him to stage the impromptu performance.

Videos of the performance made its rounds in the social media and fans were full of praise for the artiste.

The Good Vibes Festival scheduled for between July 21 and 23 was abruptly cancelled on Friday (July 21) after Matty Healy, the lead singer of British band The 1975, took a swipe at Malaysia's anti-LGBTQ laws.

Healy also kissed his male bandmate Ross Mcdonalds on stage after lashing out at the Malaysian government with expletives in his speech.

Soon after, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that the rest of the music festival was cancelled.
