KUALA LUMPUR: Klang community leader and businessman Tan Sri Jason Goh has been appointed the president of the Selangor Justices of the Peace Council.
His two-year term appointment, which took effect from Wednesday (Sept 16), was made by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Goh said he hoped to contribute his expertise and experience towards strengthening the council, particularly in fostering unity among the people.
He said he was deeply honoured by the appointment and thanked Sultan Sharafuddin for the trust and confidence.
"The Selangor Justices of Peace Council is a prestigious body and is held in regard by Commonwealth countries.
"I hope to fulfil my responsibilities with the support of Tuanku as well as the members of the council," he added.
The 65-year-old philanthropist and corporate leader said the council of Selangor had a strong historical background and had played active local judicial and administrative roles as well as community and welfare work.
Goh took over the leadership role from Datuk Ng Seing Liong, who has completed his term.
