Bukit Aman opens 3R probe over Sanusi's comment

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have initiated an investigation against Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for touching on issues involving race, religion and royalty (3R).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Bukit Aman CID's 3R Task Force was conducting the probe.

"We will conduct our probe swiftly and refer it to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action," he told reporters at Bukit Aman on Thursday (July 13).

In a video making its rounds on social media, Muhammad Sanusi appears to have belittled the appointment of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Razarudin said since March 27, a total of 61 investigation papers have been opened on 3R issues, including the case involving Muhammad Sanusi.

"Our task force has also opened investigations on several other politicians and former politicians for touching on 3R issues.

"Besides Muhammad Sanusi, we have also opened investigations against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang," he said, adding that the task force investigating these cases comprised 21 police personnel.

Razarudin said police have observed that more issues touching on race, religion and royalty were now being raised as the state elections draw near.

"We wish to advise the people to refrain from touching on such sensitive issues which could threaten national harmony," he said.
