From critic to cheerleader: Bersatu puzzled over Lokman's appointment to head govt's media secretariat

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lokman Noor Adam's appointment as the head of the unity government’s media secretariat has been questioned by Bersatu.

Bersatu supreme council member Faiz Na’aman said that the appointment was peculiar given the Umno supreme council member's personal attacks against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the past.

He said Lokman had criticised Anwar relentlessly before the Tambun MP became prime minister.

“Isn’t there anyone more capable in PKR to head the Umno-DAP unity government’s media propaganda team?

“It isn’t hard for Malaysians out there to find old ceramah videos and statements by Lokman who insulted Anwar, as it is scattered across social media,” said Faiz in a statement on Facebook on June 1 (Thursday).

Faiz also said that Lokman had once dared Anwar into uttering the sumpah laknat (swearing in the face of divine retribution) to deny sodomy allegations.

“Is the challenge still up? Or was it rescinded by Lokman who has apologised and sought forgiveness from PMX?” questioned Faiz.

Faiz said the unusual political rhetoric and hypocrisy of the present government was confusing and nauseating for Malaysians.

“Maybe the two of them (Lokman and PM) can fool Umno and DAP followers with the unity act, but God-willing, a majority of Malaysians who will vote in the coming six state polls is not as foolish as them,” added Faiz.

The six state elections in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to be called in July after their respective state assemblies are dissolved.
