KUALA TERENGGANU: About 200 buses have been prepared by the Terengganu state government to ferry outside voters back to Terengganu for polling day, says Hishammuddin Abdul Karim.
The state PAS communications director said this shows a positive sign that more people want to be involved in the elections as they are enthusiastic to come back and vote despite having to return again for the state elections next year.
Hishammuddin also denied claims that PAS was dependent on outside voters to win in the 15th General Election, instead, he said the state government aimed to help the people.
"The claims that we are too dependent on outside voters are not true because the voters are not only (those who support) PAS but also our fellow competitors.
"It is the state government’s initiative and not just PAS. We don’t ask them which 'flag' they are supporting.
"The most important thing is for them to come back and vote, that’s the government's job," he said to the media at the Perikatan Nasional GE15 press conference, here, on Sunday (Nov 6).
He added that even if the outside voters want to change their polling centre, it’s up to the voters and they were just providing an opportunity for all outside voters to come back to the state.
"Our (PAS’) job is to win the hearts of voters, both those who are currently in Terengganu as well as outside voters," he said.
On another matter, he said PAS had brought forward energetic, experienced and clean candidates in the upcoming election.
"There are questions as to why our candidates are old faces but that is not the case because we have put forward energetic and experienced candidates.
"We also have the state elections and PAS Terengganu always pays close attention to the youth," he said, adding that they would be training young candidates to lead the nation.
