Selangor will not dissolve state assembly this year, says MB

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government will stick to its decision to only dissolve its legislative assembly next year, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic).

Speaking to reporters after leaving Istana Bukit Kayangan here following his audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Selangor Mentri Besar said his meeting with the Ruler was the usual weekly routine.

“We discussed many things such as the state’s development as well as the management of its economy. Tuanku advised us to expedite and complete the necessary (tasks) before the dissolution (of the state legislative assembly)," said Amirudin.

He said from the discussion with the Ruler, there weren't any requests for the state government to be dissolved.

Amirudin also said he had conveyed to Sultan Sharafuddin that Pakatan Harapan wanted to maintain its decision not to dissolve the state assembly in tandem with the dissolution of Parliament.

He said the state budget, which was scheduled to be tabled on Oct 28, may have to be postponed.

“We are waiting for the Election Commission to fix the dates for the 15th General Election (GE15),’’ said Amirudin.

According to Amirudin, the budget may have to be postponed because state government officers will be given various duties to be carried out during the polls and this may affect the efficiency of the budget preparation and presentation.

On another matter, Amirudin who is Selangor PKR chief, said the party will retain most of its incumbent MPs in GE15.

“We will be having new candidates in Gombak and Ampang as well as looking at introducing some new and young candidates to strengthen the party further," he said.
