Rais Hussin exits Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia co-founder Datuk Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff (pic) has left the party.

Rais handed in his resignation on Thursday (Oct 6) saying he had not been active since undergoing a heart procedure in 2020.

"My focus is on developing the Emir Research think tank.

"I will still pursue my struggle for a better Malaysia which was what led me to co-found Bersatu despite the monumental tasks ahead," he said in a statement.

Rais, who is the president and chief executive officer of Emir Research, a think tank focused on strategic policy recommendations, was formerly Malaysia Digital Economy Corp chairman.

"I never shied away from speaking the truth, although it came at a personal cost at times.

"I cherish the various responsibilities, both in the party and in Pakatan Harapan," he added.
