Najib to remain incarcerated in Kajang Prison, says his special officer

KUALA LUMPUR: Kajang Prison is where Datuk Seri Najib Razak will remain incarcerated and no plans are being made to move him elsewhere.

Najib's special officer Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, when asked if the former prime minister would be moved to another prison, merely said: "No, as of now he will be in Kajang."

Lutfi also said that Najib, when he was in the courthouse, met his family members for the first time after he was sent to jail on Tuesday (Aug 23).

He said Najib had only met his lawyer once since his incarceration on Tuesday.

Najib was back in court Thursday for his RM2.28bil 1MDB trial.

On Tuesday, Najib was sent to prison after the Federal Court upheld the High Court's conviction and sentence.

On July 28, 2020, the Kuala Lumpur High Court sentenced Najib to 12 years in jail and a RM210mil fine after finding him guilty of seven charges of criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of position in the RM42mil SRC International case.
