BANGKOK: A Malaysianman travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Hokkaido, Japan, passed away during transit at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Monday (Aug 10).
According to the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok, the 53-year-old man from Kedah was pronounced dead at a hospital in Bangkok on Aug 10 at 12.26am.
Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah said the victim suffered a heart attack while transiting in Bangkok.
"The victim was brought to a hospital in Bangkok before the death certificate was issued, confirming that he died of a heart attack.
"The victim’s remains were claimed by family members who were on the same flight,” he said when contacted by Bernama today (Aug 12).
Wan Zaidi explained that autopsies are not required in Thailand if a victim’s family wish for it not to be performed.
He said all paperwork has been completed on Tuesday evening with assistance from the embassy before the victim’s remains were brought home via the Bukit Kayu Hitam land crossing.
Wan Zaidi said the remains arrived in Malaysia at about 10am on Wednesday. - Bernama
