PHNOM PENH: Kandal provincial authorities arrested over 50 foreigners and seized a large quantity of equipment during a recent raid on an alleged online scam operation in Sampov Poun town on the Vietnam border.
In a separate case, Kampong Speu provincial gendarmes arrested 16 juvenile delinquents.
The Kandal operation saw 67 foreigners, including 12 women, and one Cambodian woman detained.
After questioning, 63 foreigners were transferred to the General Department of Immigration to prepare for deportation, while four others have been transferred to court.

At a second location, another four were arrested along National Road 4 in Trapeang Sangkeak village, Trapeang Kong commune, Samraong Tong district.
Authorities seized eight motorcycles and 16 mobile phones, as well as a “copper-coloured metal necklace” and a “copper-coloured metal bracelet” during the two operations.
The youngsters were reprimanded and made to sign pledges to cease their disruptive activities, including behaviour that could affect their studies, damage property or their families’ reputation, or contribute to disorder in society.
The confiscated motorcycles will be held for three months at the Kampong Speu provincial gendarmerie headquarters, in line with Prime Minister Hun Manet’s strict directive to take the strongest measures against “gang-related” behaviour, particularly reckless motorcycle stunts on public roads. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
