KUALA LUMPUR: Just three days after Datuk Seri Najib Razak was hauled to the Kajang Prison after the Federal Court affirmed his conviction and sentence in the RM42mil SRC International case, the former premier is back in court.
On Thursday (Aug 25), he appeared at the High Court here for the RM2.28bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial before Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah.
Najib, who was brought to the court from Kajang Prison, can be seen sitting in the dock wearing a dark blue suit as he waited for the judge to appear.
The proceedings began at 10.50am.
The 1MDB trial resumes with prosecution witness
Datuk Siti Zauyah Mohd Desa, 63, who is a former deputy secretary-general at the Finance Ministry, taking the stand.
She is under a cross-examination by Najib's lead counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.
Najib is on trial for 25 charges in total – four for abuse of power that allegedly brought him financial benefit to the tune of RM2.28bil; and 21 for money laundering involving the same amount of money.
The hearing continues.
