Sabah STAR contesting under GRS banner in GE15, says Kitingan

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Sabah STAR) will be contesting under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) logo in the coming 15th General Election (GE15), says Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic).

The Sabah STAR president said the party decided on this as it was now part of the five-party GRS alliance.

“We will be using the GRS logo,” he said after closing the Indigenous People’s Day forum at the Sabah STAR headquarters here on Monday (Aug 22).

Jeffrey however declined to disclose which seats his party wes eyeing.

“Let’s not talk about seats first. (The target) is secret for now,” he added.

Besides Sabah STAR, other parties in GRS are the Sabah chapter of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation (Usno).

Barisan Nasional is not an official member of GRS but an ally of the state ruling coalition. The state government is also known as the GRS-Barisan Sabah government.

Sabah STAR is also a component party of the Perikatan Nasional together with Bersatu and SAPP.

Jeffrey is the deputy chairman of both the GRS and Perikatan coalitions.

Sabah STAR contested under the Perikatan banner during the Sabah election in 2020 and won six seats. The party also holds one parliamentary seat namely Keningau, which Jeffrey won in GE14.
