Sabah land RM4mil sponsorship ahead of new season

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah have secured a RM4mil sponsorship from Emas Sri Semantan Sdn Bhd to strengthen the team’s preparations for the Malaysian League season kicking off this August.

Sabah chairman Datuk Alijus Sipil said the sponsorship from the private entity would be put to the best possible use, particularly for player training programmes and preparations for the new season.

“We will make the best use of the sponsorship for our players’ training programmes and our preparations for the 2026-2027 season.

“We will strive to achieve better results than we did last year,” he said after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the gold-related business company.

He said although Sabah finished relatively low in the Malaysia League standings last season, the team reached the FA Cup final before losing to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), and also emerged as Challenge Cup champions. He added that Sabah were now in the final phase of its preparations, with further updates, including details of the player line-up, to be announced from time to time via the club’s official social media platforms. — Bernama
