Muhyiddin: Changes to Perikatan logo possible

IPOH: There is a possibility for Perikatan Nasional to make changes to its current logo, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Perikatan chairman said that two weeks ago during the supreme council meeting between the coalition parties, this was suggested.

He said the members had suggested having a logo instead of just wordings.

Muhyiddin said this when asked on PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement on Saturday (July 9) that the party was considering using a new logo and “will not use Perikatan or PAS flags” in the national polls.

“I think what he (Hadi) meant is that they want Perikatan to find a new logo.

“The matter is being looked into by Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

“Perikatan is currently well received, and is not that people are unable to read or understand, but I think is okay for us in the future to make some form of improvement,” he told reporters at the “Aidiladha Kenduri Rakyat” in Manjoi here Monday (July 11).

The event was organised by the state level Perikatan leadership.

Muhyiddin added that they would need to amend the constitution, and inform the Election Commission of any change in the logo once a decision is made.

“The current logo is good, but we can make improvements for a suitable logo,” he added.

Hadi’s statement had come in the wake of differences among PAS leaders over the use of their logo in the general election.

Muhyiddin had said before that Bersatu and PAS would use the Perikatan logo in the general election.
