SHAH ALAM: Those disputing the results of the recent PKR polls must have strong evidence to back their allegations, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Mentri Besar said this when asked about the claims made by his contender for the Gombak division chief post, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, that there were discrepancies in the results.

Farhash, who is former Perak PKR chief, called for a forensic audit to tabulate the results again and had expressed doubt over the manner the polls were conducted.

"Let him prove it. I am not involved in the technicalities and am just one of those contesting," Amirudin told reporters after launching the Selangor Public Health Advisory Council (Selphac) at the state secretariat's Dewan Jubli Perak on Tuesday (June 7).

Amirudin said as a contestant, it would not be fair for him to comment on the technical aspects as the onus was on the PKR election committee to verify the matter.

"They have to show proper proof and not just release propaganda," said Amirudin.

Farhash lost to Amirudin in Gombak, with 1,215 votes as opposed to Amirudin's 1,858.

He had also contested for a vice-president's position and came out sixth among the 17 candidates with 31,969 votes whilst Amirudin topped the list with 52,838 votes out of which 26,373 votes from Selangor divisions.

On his win, Amirudin said he was surprised by his big victory at the national level for the vice-president's position.

He also added the comfortable win at the Gombak division was indicative of the mandate given to him to continue leading the division as well as the members' trust in him.
