KUANTAN: Police arrested a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driver to assist in the investigation of a fatal road accident on Jalan Semambu on Friday (Sept 25).
Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said the accident occurred at 8am and resulted in the death of a 56-year-old male motorcyclist from severe injuries.
He said investigations found the SUV, driven by the 29-year-old man, likely lost control, entered the opposite lane, and collided head-on with the victim's motorcycle.
He added that the driver was detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Dashboard camera footage of the incident was also obtained.
The victim's body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for a post-mortem. - Bernama
