PETALING JAYA: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has yet to receive any application from Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin amid talk that she might be expelled from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) over her alleged ties with the newly-formed party.
PBM secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad said it will not interfere in the internal affairs of Bersatu and would let them settle their own matters.
“We have just concluded our supreme council meeting.
"So far, Zuraida’s name is not on the list of applicants who have signed up to be new members,” Nor Hizwan said in a statement Wednesday (Feb 2).
Nor Hizwan added that any new applications will be discussed for approval by PBM's supreme council and political bureau first.
Earlier, several news portals reported that a majority of Bersatu’s supreme council members were allegedly prepared to give Zuraida, who is also Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, the boot after a probe of her alleged links to PBM.
However, no decision was made due to a lack of proof that she had defected to PBM.
Bersatu Armada (Youth) chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal was also reported by a news portal as saying that they were waiting for Zuraida’s response.
PBM president Larry Sng had previously dismissed speculation that his party would be joined by "big names" including Zuraida and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
