JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has received 20,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine.

Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim said this in a post on his Facebook page Tuesday (July 6).

“We are working on getting more Sinovac and Pfizer-BioNTech doses in the near future. We hope the government and minister can help us and distribute more vaccine doses to the people. It's time for action. Serve the people, ” he said.

On Sunday (July 4), Tunku Ismail urged the state government to expedite Covid-19 vaccination efforts, including purchasing its own supply of vaccines.

Tunku Ismail said he had a meeting with Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad, state tourism, youth and sports executive councilor Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.

"During the meeting, I told the state government to expedite initiatives to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, which is at critical levels, ” said Tunku Ismail.

"I also decreed for the vaccination process for Johoreans to be expedited through various initiatives, including for the state government to directly purchase vaccines. With this, I hope we will succeed in overcoming this pandemic, " he added.

“The use of rapid test kits and personal test kits should also be introduced as soon as possible for everyone and be widely used for important sectors other than frontliners, especially for crucial sectors such as the processing of medicines, food and basic necessities.

"The rakyat should also be widely screened and vaccinated as soon as possible, " he said.
