Three people nabbed for illegally racing in Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR: Three motorcyclists have been arrested following the spread of a video that showed them illegally racing in Putrajaya.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, when contacted, said that the department took note of the video that had been making its rounds on social media since April 23.

On the same day the police arrested one of those involved in the video.

“The 31-year-old local man admitted to being the owner of one of the motorcycles seen in the video and confirmed that the incident took place on April 19 at 12.30am.

"Preliminary findings also revealed that the group was at the location to gather and produce social media content, rather than solely for racing purposes. However, further investigations are ongoing to determine the actual intent of the incident. It is understood that this was the first time the group had gathered at the location, which is situated near Putra Mosque,” he said.

Two more riders, aged 31 and 33 years old, were then arrested to assist investigations.

“The department is currently tracing down several others believed to be involved in the video,” he said.
