Road user files police report against bus driver in Melaka

MELAKA: A police report has been lodged against a bus driver in Melaka after a viral video showed the suspect allegedly acting aggressively and making a rude gesture at a road user.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said a 61-year-old man later lodged the report over the incident, which had allegedly occurred at about 11.38am on Thursday (April 23).

He added that the police found the Facebook post on the incident at 2pm on the same day.

“Initial investigations found that the complainant, who was driving from Plaza Mahkota towards Kota Laksamana, was allegedly intimidated by the bus driver at a bend near a medical centre in Taman Melaka Raya, nearly causing him to hit a road cone.

“After making a U-turn, the bus again overtook and edged into the complainant’s vehicle along the Syed Abdul Aziz flyover, almost causing it to crash into a wall,” ACP Christopher said on Friday.

He said the complainant later tailed the bus until it stopped by the roadside in the Kota Laksamana area.

“The complainant’s son then got out to obtain the driver’s details, but the bus driver allegedly turned aggressive and attempted to hit him,” he said.

He urged witnesses to come forward with information at the nearest police station to assist investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
