Remand order application procedures provided for under Criminal Procedure Code, relevant laws, says Office of the Registrar General


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian judiciary has taken the initiative to review Practice Directions and relevant circulars for the purpose of improving the existing procedures and practices regarding the application of remand orders, says the Office of the Registrar General.

In responding to a news report on lawyer M Manoharan's suggestions to improve remand proceedings in order to reduce the number of deaths in police custody, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat has informed that the applicable law for the application for a remand order is as provided for under the Criminal Procedure Code and other related specific laws.
