Haniza says yet to receive RM10mil letter of demand from PKR, ready to go to court

IPOH: Lembah Jaya assemblyman Haniza Mohamed Talha (pic) is prepared to go to court over the RM10mil compensation as demanded by PKR.

Haniza said she has yet to receive the letter of demand from her former party and believes that the demand could not be taken up against her and 19 other former party members.

"As of today, I am not sure who has received the letter.

"We are prepared with our lawyers to take up the case and the necessary action," she told reporters after a Hari Raya Aidiladha event here on Saturday (Aug 1).

"I did not quit or hop to another party. I was sacked.

"I'm not worried as I'm an Independent and not with any political parties," she added.

PKR treasurer-general Lee Chean Chung had reportedly said that the party would be issuing letters of demand to claim RM10mil from the 10 MPs and 10 state assemblymen who had defected.

Haniza, who was sacked as the party's Wanita chief in June, said the demand was ultra vires and against the Federal Constitution.

"In the Constitution, it gives the right to any individual to join any registered organisation.

"Even if I do join a party aside from PKR, I did not do anything wrong," she said.
