Altimet: Hari Raya celebrations in Lembah Jaya to be toned down

KUALA LUMPUR: Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in the Lembah Jaya state assembly area will be toned down this year.

Heeding the call of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lembah Jaya assemblyman Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, said celebrations in the area will be held in moderation.

"Lembah Jaya has five zones. We plan to have small-scale celebrations in every zone.

"We aim to foster the spirit of unity in communities, albeit it being celebrated moderately," he told reporters after presenting aid to 60 children from the Lembah Jaya Rumah Anak-anak Yatim and Asnaf Qaseh Ibu recently.

The kids were brought to an outlet where each of them was treated with baju raya of their choosing.

Following that, a breaking of fast event was held for the children as well as the distribution of duit raya.

Altimet said the several forms of aid were also presented to those in need based on contributions from several entities, including Jakel and Weststar

"Throughout Ramadan, NGO Periksa Selangor, chaired by Taufik Zolkepli, also distributed 1,500 packs of food to those in need," he added.
