HONG Kong actor Kenneth Ma, who is known for keeping a low profile, has finally started an Instagram account with the handle @Kennethmkm, Sin Chew Daily reported.
He picked June 9 as the day to debut on Instagram as it is the “birthday” of Donald Duck.
Ma, 46, is a big fan of the lovable cartoon character.
Within three days of having the Instagram account, Ma gained about 106,000 followers.
As of yesterday, he follows 29 people who include fellow artistes such as Priscilla Wong, Tavia Yeung Yi, Him Law and Grace Chan.
His eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that former girlfriend Jacqueline Wong, who cheated on him with married singer Andy Hui last year, was not among those he followed on Instagram.
Wong and Hui were caught kissing at the back of a taxi in April last year.
They later apologised for their behaviour.
Ma and Wong, both of whom had been dating for three years, broke up after the scandal came to light.
Ma is not a celebrity known for keeping up with the latest trends.
He only started an account on Weibo – a hugely popular app in China – in 2018, which was a decade after the social media platform was launched.
> Fifth and Sixth Form students of independent Chinese schools will be allowed to return to school on June 24, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim said the schools would set up a management committee in accordance to guidelines from the National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry to plan for measures in ensuring the safety of teachers and students.
As for students from Form One to Form Four, Dong Zong is still awaiting further instructions from the Education Ministry.
On Tuesday, Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin announced that students who are sitting for public examinations such as SPM and STPM would be allowed to resume classes on June 24.
Tan reassured parents and students that independent Chinese schools would strictly adhere to the standard operating procedure recommended by the NSC and the Health Ministry as well as to ensure that social distancing is practised within school grounds.
Just like students from public schools, those from the 63 independent Chinese schools in the country have not been able to attend classes since March 18 after the movement control order was implemented.
Dong Zong, known also as the United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia, looks after independent Chinese schools in Malaysia and determines the syllabus for the Unified Examination Certificate which is taken by their Sixth Form students.
