PAS sec-gen claims Muhyiddin has support of 114 MPs

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has the support of 114 members of the Dewan Rakyat, says PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (pic).

“We have the support of 114 out of 222 parliamentarians. That is no longer a minority government, ” said the Kota Baru MP.

He said that PAS MPs only wanted the best for Malaysia, when asked whether the party wanted any posts in the new Cabinet.

“That's not our main objective. We just wanted to save Malaysia, ” he told reporters when asked about it as he was leaving Muhyiddin's house Saturday (Feb 29).

Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he was happy that the question of who would become prime minister had been resolved.

“I am glad it has been resolved according to the Constitution, ” he said.

The Ketereh MP also told Malaysians that “we are still one family”.

Earlier Saturday, Istana Negara announced that Muhyiddin would be sworn in as the eighth prime minister at 10.30am on Sunday (March 1).

After receiving representations from both sides, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has determined that the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president is “most likely to command a majority, ” the Istana said in a statement.
