Being quarantined for the novel coronavirus has not stopped a Singaporean couple from “attending” their own wedding reception – with a little help from modern

technology, reported Sin Chew

Daily. The couple returned from China last week and decided to carry on with their wedding reception by “attending” it via teleconference.

Both the bride and groom were seen interacting with guests via a large screen projector and even carried on with the traditional yum seng (cheers) in the comfort of their home.

When interviewed, the 37-year-old bridegroom told Shinmin Daily that they returned from China on Jan 30 and it was too late to cancel or postpone the reception which was to be held on Sunday.

“We know that many guests were worried. At the beginning, we tried to ask the hotel if we were allowed to postpone the reception but were unable to reach an agreement.

“In the end, to make sure that our guests were not worried, we decided to go with this plan,” the groom said.

Even the parents of the groom, who live with him, had to be self-quarantined.

Among immediate family members, only the groom’s sister was physically present at the reception.

“Thank you, everyone, for attending our reception. I apologise for not being physically present but I hope everyone can enjoy this beautiful moment.

“We are happy and we thank everyone for coming,” the groom was heard saying during the reception, followed by applause from the guests.
