Controversial businessman Liow not a PKR member, says Fuziah

PETALING JAYA: A review of PKR's membership records shows that businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee is not a party member, says Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.

The PKR secretary-general said this following speculation of Liow's links to the party after a photograph of him with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim went viral.

Fuziah said a review of the party's membership system confirmed that Liow had never applied to become a member.

"I directed that a review of the PKR membership system be carried out, which confirmed that he is not listed in PKR's membership records.

"It also found that he had never submitted an application to become a member," Fuziah said in a statement on Sunday (July 26).

Liow, who is the founder of Winner Dynasty Group, was previously on the run for a year before surrendering to the police over various cheating and online scam cases.

In 2022, he was charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court with 26 counts of money laundering involving RM36mil.

While in hiding, Liow was charged in absentia with being a member of an organised crime group. He was later granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).
