PETALING JAYA: PKR has denied allegations that slides circulating on social media suggesting strategies for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to retain power were presented during its party congress.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the slides shared by Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir on social media were never tabled at any PKR congress or convention, nor were they prepared by any party representative.
"The event held on Aug 15 and 16 in Melaka was the PKR National Congress 2026 and not a convention as claimed by Mukhriz.
"The national congress received widespread media coverage, if such slides had been presented, there would be official records, media reports, or video recordings to back the claim," she said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 20).
According to PKR, the graphic first surfaced on Facebook on Sept 24.
Fuziah expressed regret over Mukhriz's actions, calling it disappointing that an experienced political figure would spread unverified material to link PKR with the recent Registrar of Societies' decision to deregister Perikatan.
"More importantly, the complaint that led to the ROS action against Perikatan involves issues among coalition component parties. PKR is not involved in that complaint.
"Political differences are not a license to spread slander," she added, demanding that Mukhriz retract his statement and issue an open apology to PKR.
