Video of Adib celebrating birthday in fire station goes viral as nation mourns him

PETALING JAYA: As the nation mourns the passing of fallen firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, a video of him celebrating his birthday inside a fire station has gone viral.

The 19-second video posted on Facebook by Friends of Bomba Malaysia is believed to be the final video that captured Adib before the fatal incident.

It shows the 24-year-old, dressed in his Bomba uniform, shyly cutting what appears to be his birthday cake, as his colleagues cheer him on.

The writing on the cake reads "Happy Birthday, Adib".

Adib's face lights up with a big, toothy grin and he smiles at the camera with a joyful thumbs up, as he cuts into the cake.

Muhammad Adib, 24, passed away at 9.41pm at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Monday (Dec 17).

His remains were brought back to his hometown in Kampung Tebengau, Kedah, for the funeral on Tuesday (Dec 18).
