Those responsible for firefighter Adib's death will face justice, says Selangor deputy police chief

PETALING JAYA: Those responsible for the murder of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim will face justice, says Deputy Comm Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab.

The Selangor deputy police chief said police have since reclassifed Muhammad Adib’s case from attempted murder to murder.

“We will track down those suspected of assaulting Muhammad Adib.

“Justice will be served,” he said when contacted.

Sufficient police personnel have also been deployed around the vicinity of the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple at USJ 25, Seafield, he added.

“We are deploying police personnel there to maintain order and to prevent any untoward incident.

“We urge the public to remain calm, as the situation is still under control,” he said.

Muhammad Adib, 24, passed away at 9.41pm at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Monday (Dec 17).

On Sunday (Dec 16), IJN said that Muhammad Adib’s condition was critical after suffering progressive deterioration of his lung and kidney function over the past 24 hours. 

He had suffered from fractured ribs and internal injuries, and was earlier treated at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) before being transferred to the IJN. 

His remains were brought back to his hometown in Kampung Tebengau, Kedah, after final rites and prayers were conducted at IJN on Monday night. 

The post-mortem was also conducted at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
