KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on several major highways heading out of the Klang Valley was smooth and under control as of 10pm Thursday (Nov 5).
A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said, however, minor congestion was reported at several locations following accidents and an increase in the number of vehicles.
"For northbound traffic along the North-South Expressway (PLUS), congestion was reported over a 4km stretch between Sungkai and Slim River, as well as along a 1km stretch at the Menora Tunnel heading towards Kuala Kangsar, following accidents.
"Congestion was also reported at Juru heading towards Perai and on the Penang Bridge heading towards Perai," the spokesman told Bernama when contacted here Thursday.
They said that for southbound traffic, congestion was detected at Sedenak heading towards Kulai, while traffic along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway and East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) remained smooth.
He added that LLM expected traffic congestion to begin building up Friday (Nov 5) night following the announcement of a 50% toll discount from the normal rates for two days, from Nov 6 to 7, in conjunction with the Deepavali celebrations this Sunday (Nov 8). - Bernama
