KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo has snubbed the proposal to have a live telecast of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's trial.
"There will be no live telecast because we have limited channels for Bernama and RTM," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Thursday (Nov 1).
Gobind was asked whether he would give permission to have a live telecast of the Najib's trial.
It was reported that Najib's lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said he had no issue with it as the proceedings would be carried out in a transparent manner.
Gobind, however, said the court case and trial would be given normal coverage as with other court cases by the national news agency and RTM.
"As far as we are concerned, the news will be covered similar with other court cases," he said.
