Schools named after nationalists and prominent figures

PUTRAJAYA: Nine out of the 10 newly approved Chinese primary schools are named after nationalists and prominent figures in recognition of their contribution to the country.

Tun HS Lee, who was part of the Merdeka mission to London and Malaya’s first Finance Minister; Tun Omar Ong Yoke Lin, the Health and Social Welfare Minister in Malaya’s very first Cabinet; Tun Lim Chong Eu, second Penang chief minister; and Too Joon Hing, Malaya’s first Assistant Education Minister, were among the notable individuals.
